This work addresses biblical theology and articles present the
pastoral perspective of the topic. Seven introductory articles provide
the reader with an overview of biblical topics such as: versions of
the Bible, biblical interpretation, and biblical theology. Articles in
the main body of the dictionary vary in length depending on the scope
of the topic. Major articles may have several individual articles
written under the topic. For example under the topic
"temple" there are three articles addressing the Old
Testament, New Testament, and the Pastoral-Liturgical Tradition.
Entries are signed and include cross references .

studies, this reference work is divided into three sections including
signed entries for named women, unnamed women arranged in order of
their appearance in the biblical text, and female deities and
personifications. Cross references are provided to additional articles

the first time would do well to read the article "Elenchus

Bibliographicus Biblicus 57 (1976) xlvi-xlviii.The outline of the bibliography and a translation are included at
the end of this section.

Bibliography of books and articles on all phases of Bible study
published between 1930 and 1983. Two features especially recommend
this work: there is an extensive listing in one volume and there are
references to articles on particular chapters and verses for all the
books of the Bible. Some periodicals are not represented, so this work
must be supplemented.
