Dr. Lyons oversees the theological and religious studies collections of St. John’s Seminary. She holds the M.A. and P.h.D. degrees in history of religions from Princeton University and the M.S. degree in library science from Simmons College, Boston. Previously, she served as Librarian at the Swendenborg School of Religion, Newton, Massachusettes; Director of the Graduate Theology Library at Sacred Heart Major Seminary, Detroit, Michigan; and Director of the Library at Hiram College, Hiram, Ohio. Dr. Lyons has particular interest and experience in instructional technology, collection development and the planning and design of library buildings.

Mary Ann Navarro

Mary Ann Navarro graduated from Ventura Community College with an A.S. in Early Childhood Education. She taught and directed preschool programs in Ventura County and El Rio School District. She is a mother to three grown adults and grandmother to three talented grandchildren. While raising her children, she volunteered at elementary school libraries. Her volunteer work eventually led her to a career in libraries and she has been in the field now for more than 20 years.She is a member of the California Library Association (CLA) and has taken numerous courses in all aspects of library work though OCLC and CLA. She has Spanish speaking and writing skills and has some background in Spanish cataloging. Her primary responsibilities are copy-cataloging, serials, processing new acquisitions and supervising student workers. Her interests are her grandchildren and her pets, gardening, hiking, and Latin dancing. She has been employed at St. John’s Seminary since 1997.

Peter Laurence

Peter started work at the seminary in December, 2011. He is responsible for interlibrary loans and course reserves. Peter is an experienced teacher and translator (Spanish –English). He is also familiar with Portuguese, French and Dutch. He has done volunteer work with the Missionaries of Charity in Tijuana. Among his many interests are cycling and cake decorating.
