They provide general information, comprehensive surveys of specific topics and bibliographies for additional reading. The first section includes dictionaries and encyclopedias which discuss the terms and general subjects in theology. While this bibliography emphasizes works which reflect Catholic theology, standard reference books representing the Protestant viewpoint have been included. The second section lists several major encyclopedias or dictionaries of special disciplines in theology such as moral theology, liturgy or church history.
